KINGSTON, Jamaica — Mayor of Kingston and St Andrew, Andrew Swaby says the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation has been successful in relocating homeless persons to shelters in the parish for the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Swaby was touring several communities in final efforts to get Jamaicans in disaster-prone areas to safety.

Noting the different shelters being used, including a temporary location on Church Street just above KSAMC, the Desmond McKenzie Transitional Centre, and the Denham Town Golden Age Home, Swaby said efforts to relocate homeless persons have been successful so far.

“Right here where I am, we have 32 males that have been here… They have gotten a chance to have a bath and we have given them some clothes and they are awaiting some food now,” Swaby said.
