The Electoral Commission of Jamaica has officially confirmed the nine candidates who will run in the by-elections come November 22.
In Trelawny Southern, former Member of Parliament, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert of the Jamaica Labour Party will face off against independent candidate, Lloyd “Mozy” Gillings. The main Opposition, People’s National Party will not contest the election. Dalrymple-Philibert had resigned as MP last year following charges laid by the Integrity Commission over allegations that she made a false statement in her statutory declarations for the periods 2015 to 2017 and 2018-2020.
Similarly, two independent candidates, Rohan Banks and Carl Marshall will face off against the Jamaica Labour Party’s Duane Smith for the St Andrew North Western seat.
The PNP enters the race in the Aenon Town Division in Clarendon Northern where they have put forward Delroy Dawson to face JLP candidate, Suzette Barton.
Finally, the PNP’s Yvonne Shaw and the JLP’s Winston Downie will battle for the Morant Bay Division in St. Thomas Eastern.
