“The song is generating a major buzz in the dancehall, I have to big up Laden for giving me such a great collaboration. This Better Than Dem song is a typical song about the bad mind culture where people you know aren’t happy for your success, this is something that we have to move on from as a society,” says emerging new artiste Jayxyrus.
The song, produced by Code1 Records, was released in October of this year but has begun to pick up momentum towards the end of 2024. The song has been popping up on Spotify and Youtube playlists and various mixtapes over the past few weeks.
“The airplay has also picked up on the radio,” he noted.
Jayxyrus started music at age 11 and gain the passion through listening to some of Jamaica’s known influential artistes. His first studio experience was at age 16 at Old House Production in Spanish Town which gave him the drive to go all out in music.
While attending Vere Technical High School, Jayxyrus gained fast recognition among his peers for his musical abilities.
“Music is my life and I believe that I have the quality. My musical style is different and it is something that people always talk about. I always try to inspire youths down the right path with my music,” he said.
Jayxyrus believes that he has a hit on his hands with Betta Dan Dem featuring Laden.
“Right now, the next move is probably a music video because the song has great traction, Laden is fully on board,” Jayxyrus pointed out.
An established dancehall act, Laden catapulted his way into the spotlight after participating in the Digicel Rising Star competition in 2006. He has produced hit singles such as I’m Sorry, Don’t You Like It, and Gal Coward.
