KINGSTON, Jamaica— Olympic silver medallist Kishane Thompson will make his indoor debut on January 25 as he has been announced for the 60-metre event at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Among his competitors for the race is Canada’s Andre De Grasse who, according to World Athletics, placed sixth in the same event last year in Astana with a time of 6.66 seconds.
Thompson last competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics where he placed second in the 100m men’s final running 9.79 seconds to finish closely behind American sprinter Noah Lyles.
Sprint twins Tia and Tina Clayton are expected to participate in the women’s 60-metre, along with Jamaican compatriot Natasha Morrison and Bahamian sprinter Anthonique Strachan.
Meanwhile, Janieve Russell will go up against Barbadian Sada Williams in the women’s 400m.
