Clarendon bus driver charged with abduction of a teen

KINGSTON, Jamaica— A 56-year-old bus driver has been charged with abduction of a child under 16-years-old and grievous sexual assault following an incident in his community on April 2.

He has been identified as Leroy Powell, otherwise called ‘Jimmy’, a resident of Viola Drive, Longville Park in Clarendon.

According to reports from the May Pen police, about 4:00 pm., the teen entered a coaster bus that was operated by Powell. He reportedly dropped off the other passengers and then assaulted the teen inside of the motor bus.

He then reportedly left the girl near her home.

The teenager informed a family member of the incident, and a report was later made to the police.

On Friday, April 4, Powell was arrested. He was questioned and subsequently charged for the offences.

His court date is being finalised.
