Grand Slam Track: Jones wins 100m hurdles, Williams second

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s double World Champion Danielle Williams started her pursuit of the US$100,000 prize money at the Grand Slam Track meet in Kingston on Saturday, finishing second in the Women’s 100m hurdle in 12.70 behind American Tia Jones in 12.63.

Puerto Rico’s 2020 Olympic gold medallist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was third in a close race in 12.70. Jamaica’s rising star Ackera Nugent was fourth with 12.75.

Jones is the event leader with 12 points ahead of Williams on eight points and Camacho-Quinn on six points while Ackera Nugent for her effort has five points.

The runners will return in the 100m on Sunday where the prize monies will be decided.
