The Church which was completed on June 5th 1861 was built by slaves from brick and mortar on the Glebe lands next to the Muster or Parade Ground which is presently the Claude Stuart Park.

St. Mary Parish Church has an adjoining cemetery with an epitaph dedicated to the Jamaicans who fought in World War I.

The Claude Stuart Park which houses the St Mary Parish Library. The Tacky Memorial is also located in this area.
