The district of Castle Gordon located 3.5 km (approx. 2 mi) north of Port Maria Town is home to both the Casa Maria Hotel and Succabus Bay.

James Bond actor Sean Connery dined regularly at the the Casa Maria Hotel restaurant, and the venue routinely hosted parties attended by Hollywood stars such as Katharine Hepburn, Gregory Peck and Errol Flynn, who allegedly drove a brand new Cadillac into the hotel swimming pool during one of his many alcohol moments.

The 'Look Out' community nearby is where Jamaica's second lieutenant governor, the 17th-century pirate Henry Morgan, policed the coastal sea waters.

Look Out was Morgan's observation post, which can be found on the hill above the Casa Maria hotel.

Look Out, features remarkable views of the north coast, and in 1956 it was developed by English playwright Noel Coward into a luxurious retreat, Firefly, which was visited by dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II.

He renamed it Firefly because of the little glowing insects (fireflies) seen on the property.

In Jamaica, fireflies are called “blinkies” or “peenie wallies.”

The house often entertained jet-setters and royalty, such as both the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Winston Churchill, Elizabeth Taylor, Errol Flynn and Ian Fleming... plus more...

Notably, Firefly Estate is the home and burial place of Sir Noel Coward.

Sir Coward died at Firefly on 26 March 1973, at age 73, after having written many of his famous plays there. He was buried under a marble slab in the garden, near the spot where he would sit at dusk watching the sun set as he sipped his brandy with ginger ale chaser and looked out to sea.
