Apostles Battery is a small fort erected on high rock along the Portmore shoreline to the west of Port Royal.

Although Fort Augusta effectively blocked passes into the Kingston Harbour,

Added security was needed and the site was a small but steep area between Port Henderson and Green Bay.

In the mid 1740s a line of twelve guns, nine 42 pounders and three 32-poundders was erected. They came to be known as the Twelve Apostles or the Apostles Battery.

Some buildings were removed when a gun emplacement was put on site after 1900.

The only remains are the outlines of the paved platform and magazines on the hill behind the battery

Various items dated 1740 were removed from the battery in 1972.

The items were distributed between Port Royal and Devon House.

These items included French Brass thought to be placed at the site by Rodney after the 1782 Battle of the Saints.
