St Mary Technical High School (formerly Richmond Secondary School) is located in Richmond, St Mary, Jamaica (Caribbean).

SMTHS began in September 1970 as Richmond Junior Secondary School, but it was renamed Richmond Secondary School in 1974, then in 1976 it became Richmond New Secondary School, As a new secondary school, the curriculum was revised to include clothing, business, welding and auto mechanics at the Secondary School Certifi­cate (SSC) level.

In 1994, the school was reclassified under the Reform of Secondary Education (ROSE) and became St Mary Technical High School. The range of subjects were then expanded to embrace technical vocational areas.

The school has been steadily growing from ‘good to great’ in examination passes.

St Mary Technical High School SMTHS boasts a very diverse racial makeup, the largest minority groups being East Indians and Chinese.

All the teachers have been National Secondary Curriculum trained, and the teachers operate STEM Academy with focus on crop production and agro-processing.

The school has two campuses, Main and Junior.

1,203 pupils,
65 academic staff,
17 ancillary workers
and 7 on the administration team.

In common with all state-run Jamaican secondary schools which uses a selection process to accept students at the grade seven level.

Students from primary and preparatory schools can attempt to gain a place at St Mary Technical High by sitting an examination.
