WATCH: MOCA agents raid St Catherine Municipal Corporation

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – The Major Organised Crime & Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) raided the St Catherine Municipal Corporation offices Thursday morning as part of a major fraud investigation.

The parish council was the last of 17 locations raided by MOCA, according to Director of Communications at MOCA Major Basil Jarrett.

“We’ve targeted about 17 locations today before coming here. Those 17 locations are the homes and residences of employees and associates of employees of the St Catherine Municipal Corporation,” Jarrett told Observer Online.

“The operation is intended to affect a number of search warrants. At this point, there are no arrests planned,” Jarrett added.

The director said that could change, however, depending on the outcome of the investigations in the coming days.

Jarret also said MOCA had tried to execute the operation with as minimal impact on the public as possible.

“Obviously, there are a number of sterile areas, but for those areas that are unaffected, it should be business as usual,” he said.

Files and documents being seized during the current MOCA raid at the St Catherine Municipal Authority.
