Five J’can high school teams for Next-Gen relays

KINGSTON Jamaica – Five Jamaican high school teams are set to participate in the first New York Next-Gen Invitational Relays set for the stadium at Memorial Field in Mt Vernon, New York on Saturday.

 

The Jamaican teams: Jamaica College, St Elizabeth Technical, Vere Technical, Holmwood Technical and Herbert Morrison Technical will be joined by Caribbean neighbours Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, and they will be be competing against another 30 high schools from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Philadelphia.

 

The Jamaicans will be using the meet as a warm up for the 129th staging of the Penn Relays in Philadelphia which will be held next weekend.

 

Twenty-three clubs are also expected to participate in the one- day event that will see Open competition in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1 mile and 3000m races as well as both sprint hurdles and four relays- 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m.
