SANTA CRUZ, Jamaica – Tariek Bryan is on a dominant, unbeaten century as St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) seized command of the rescheduled all-island GraceKennedy Spalding Cup match against Excelsior High on Thursday.

At lunch on the second day of the three-day contest, STETHS were 267-5 in reply to Excelsior’s first-innings score of 127.

Scores: Excelsior 127; STETHS 267-5

STETHS left-hander Bryan is on 190. He has struck 19 fours and half dozen sixes from 260 deliveries. The other not out batsman is Jahliel Smith, on 11.

Excelsior’s Nicoli McKenzie has taken 3-80.

Bryan and Kevaun Brown resumed this morning with STETHS on 110-4 and the pair quickly eased their team past the first-innings target.

They extended their fifth-wicket partnership to 156 runs before Brown was dismissed for 31.

Bryan, a Jamaica youth player, continued to score freely in partnership with the more sedate Smith as the STETHS lead swelled to 140 runs heading into the post-lunch session.

The Spalding Cup contest began Wednesday, a day later than originally scheduled after the ground staff failed to prepare the pitch and outfield in time on the heels of the Easter holiday period.

Match officials and organisers eventually agreed to reschedule the start to ensure no playing time was lost because of the embarrassing foul-up.
