First female Jamaican football parish president Lorraine Scringer dies

HANOVER, Jamaica— Lorraine Scringer, the first female president of a parish football association has died.

Scringer, who is described as a football lover, passed away on Wednesday.

“I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family, friends and the entire football fraternity of the passing of Lorraine Scringer. Lorraine loved football and loved her country and she was an outstanding servant to both. She was driven, hardworking and a diligent lady,” Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president Michael Ricketts said in a release.

“She served the parish of Hanover with excellence and also as a JFF executive very well. She will be missed,” the release from JFF added.

Scringer was the president of the Hanover Football Association between 1995 and 2014. She also served under the late Captain Horace Burrell as a member of the JFF executive.
