No weapons, explosives for Freedom Street concert as police announce traffic changes

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police are advising persons attending Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street concert at the National Stadium on New Year’s Eve that any item that can be used to cause serious harm or injury will not be allowed inside the venue.

Among the prohibited items cited by police are firearms, explosives, knives, large igloos, glass bottles, large umbrellas and scissors.

In the meantime, the public is also advised that no parking will be allowed at the National Stadium.

The police said a one-way system will be strictly enforced.

Motorists travelling along Mountain View Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive may experience disruptions in normal traffic flow before, during and after the event.

Shuttle parks have been established at Heroes Park, 8 West King’s House Road and Jamaica College.

Traffic personnel will be deployed along the roadways and members of the public are being advised to follow their instructions.
