Jamaica U17 into quarter-finals of Mexico tourney

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Under -17 men’s team will play Seleccion Metropolitana in the quarter-finals of the Torneo del Sol in Mexico on Thursday, starting at 1:30 pm (Jamaica time) after winning their second game in the first round on Wednesday.

Following their win in the opening game on Monday, a 3-2 victory over Seleccion Bajio, Jamaica were beaten 2-0 by Selection North U-19 on Tuesday; but rebounded with a 3-1 win over Liga Premier on Wednesday.

Seymour Reid, who had scored a brace in Monday’s win, scored a second half hat-trick on Wednesday, to lead the team that is using the tournament to prepare for next month’s Concacaf Under -17 World Cup qualifying tournament.

The other quarter-final games set for Thursday are: hosts Mexico vs Seleccion Centro; Panama vs Seleccion Occidente and Seleccion Liga Premier vs Seleccion Liga TDP.
