SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – Petrojam has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Refineria Dominicana de Petroleo, S.A. (Refidomsa), the sole petroleum refinery in the Dominican Republic to jointly deliver significant improvements in energy security for both countries.
“This partnership marks a significant advancement in our efforts to bolster regional energy ties, improve operational efficiencies and foster innovation and sustainable energy solutions, to drive mutual growth and energy resilience,” announced Metry Seaga, deputy chairman of Petrojam, shortly after signing the MoU with Yamily Lopez Sury, general manager of Refidomsa, during a recent ceremony in Santo Domingo.
The MoU outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration, emphasising enhanced cooperation, promotion of trade and investment and strengthening of scientific and commercial partnerships.
Leading the implementation of this initiative is Petrojam’s General Manager, Telroy Morgan, who has been focused on strengthening the regional partnership with Refidomsa.
Morgan reflected on how years of collaboration will now enhance Petrojam’s focus on the professional development of technical teams from both companies, through initiatives including joint workshops, exchange of experts, and the sharing of scientific infrastructure and services.
“This MoU is also a commitment to knowledge sharing, capacity building and leveraging economies of scale. By exchanging best practices and fostering collaboration, we are empowering our teams to innovate, ultimately strengthening the energy sector of both Jamaica and the Dominican Republic,” he said.
Refidomsa’s General Manager, Lopez Sury, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting, “We are excited to partner with Petrojam on this initiative. This collaboration is well positioned to drive growth and sustainability in the energy sector, benefiting both our nations.”
