Two higglers have been charged for illegal cigarettes that were allegedly found in their possession.

Donald Mattis from Nine Miles in Bull Bay, St Andrew, was charged along with 42-year-old Toffawee Dawkins from Glengoffe in St Catherine.

Both men have been charged with possession of uncustomed goods. No court date was given for the two accused.

Reports indicated that around 8:30pm on Tuesday, a police team signalled a silver Toyota Probox to stop for a traffic breach on Torrington Road, Kingston 5.

The two accused were in the car at the time. The driver opened the door, and the police reportedly smelled ganja in the vehicle.

The police informed the driver that they smelled ganja and that they were going to search the vehicle. The car was searched in the view of the driver and the other occupant.

A brown carton box was seen and inspected, and 25 cartons of Sunny cigarettes, each containing 20 sticks, were found. The exhibit was labelled and sealed in the view of both men.

They were later arrested and charged with the offence of uncustomed goods.
