KINGSTON, JAMAICA — PAC Kingston Airport Limited (PACKAL), operator of Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in response to a fire incident this evening in the Club Kingston area of the terminal.

PACKAL, in a media release on Friday, said airport emergency response teams and local fire services are actively working to contain the situation.

“The terminal building was safely evacuated in accordance with our emergency protocols, and no injuries have been reported at this time. Airport emergency response teams and local fire services are actively working to contain the situation,” PACKAL said.

Meanwhile, PACKAL said flight operations are experiencing temporary delays but are expected to resume soon.

“British Airways flight BA 2263 from London Gatwick Airport, American Airlines flight AA 1082 from Miami International Airport, and Delta Airlines flight DL 1906 from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport have all landed, and passengers are awaiting processing. We recommend that passengers contact their airlines for the most current information regarding their specific flights,” PACKAL said.

PACKAL also sought to reassure the public that images from yesterday’s scheduled emergency simulation exercise, which are circulating on social media, are not related to today’s incident.
