TRELAWNY MAN SLAPPED WITH SEVERAL CHARGES
A 26-year-old Trelawny man was slapped with several charges following a chain of events along Doeman Street, Deeside, in the parish on Thursday, April 10.
Charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Unauthorized Possession of Ammunition, three counts of Rape and Forcible Abduction is Brandon Haughton, otherwise called ‘KJ’ of Greenvale district.
Allegations are that between 1:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., a woman went to a party with Haughton. Whilst at the event, she asked a friend to pick her up and then left. The woman’s friend stopped at a nearby shop to make a purchase, following which Haughton pulled up to the same location. He ordered the woman to exit her friend’s vehicle, forced her into his, and then took her to a house where he sexually assaulted her.
The police were alerted, and the lawmen carried out a raid at the address he took the woman. She was seen at the house with the accused and was removed. A search of the premises was also conducted in his presence and view. During the search, a Taurus Armour G2C 9mm pistol with a magazine containing five 9mm cartridges was found on the bedroom floor. Haughton was taken into custody while the woman was assisted to the hospital, where she was medically examined.
Haughton was formally charged on Saturday, April 12, and is slated to appear in the Duncans Parish Court on Thursday, April 17.
