Roxstar urges resilience with ‘Cya Sleep’

Staying focused amid life’s challenges can be tough, but singjay Roxstar believes resilience is important in the darkest of times. That is the theme for Cya Sleep, his latest song.

Released in February, it is produced by Ziggyonthekeyboard, with whom the New York-based artiste has previously worked.

“The message behind Cya Sleep is to keep fighting for your dreams and aspirations even when losing someone close to you. You were destined to be great, so don’t give up because of sadness and allow that to hamper your growth. Keep your eyes on the prize,” said Roxstar.

He told Observer Online that he wrote the song based on personal experience, involving himself, relatives and friends. Roxstar observed that people react to grief differently, but ultimately getting back in the groove of life is critical.

Cya Sleep is the first song of 2025 for Roxstar who was born in New York City to Jamaican parents. It kicks off what he vows will be his busiest campaign since he started recording music six years ago.

In the past year, Roxstar has been in the studio as often as four times a week recording songs. He plans to release more tracks by the summer.

Roxstar caught the dancehall bug while living in Jamaica as a pre-teen. Listening to diverse acts such as Dexta Daps, Kranium, Bob Marley, Dennis Brown and John Holt encouraged him to pursue a music career.
