RESTAURANT OWNER CHARGED FOLLOWING BREACHES OF THE FIREARMS ACT
Detectives attached to the St. Andrew Central Policing Division have charged a man with Wounding with Intent, Using a Firearm to commit a Felony and Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place following an incident in the parish on Monday, April 14.
Charged is 41-year-old Damian Douglas, a restaurant owner of Tavern Crescent, Kingston 6.
Reports from the Matilda’s Corner Police are that at about 1:21 p.m., Douglas and a man were involved in an altercation during which Douglas pulled his licensed firearm and fired shots at him, hitting him. The police were summoned, and upon their arrival, the man was seen suffering from a gunshot wound to his left buttock. The man was taken to the hospital where he was treated and admitted.
Douglas was arrested after turning himself in to the police on Tuesday, April 22. He was subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
He is scheduled to appear before the St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, April 25, 2025.
